THE IDEA

Oregon offers some of the best adventuring in the United States, but much of it is only accessible to very skilled outdoor-enthusiasts. We wanted to provide an avenue for families in Portland and abroad to experience the rugged beautify of the place we call home, in a guided and controlled atmosphere. Situated at the top of Pumpkin Ridge, the ziplines and suspension bridges offer sweeping views and a sense of exposure usually only accessible via rock climbing routes or our snow-capped peaks.

Concept & Design

Synergo sat down with owners Ann and Larry Bastion to create a uniquely intentional tour design. Each line grows steadily higher, fast and longer as guests trek through the trees allowing plenty of time for them to get used to extreme heights. This tour is designed specifically for families allowing for a variety of different levels of fear and abilities.

BUILD & INSTALLATION

Once the design was finalized, Synergo began the process of pre-fabrication and installation. Many of the octagonal platforms were built off-site and eventually installed whole to protect as many branches on the Douglass Firs as possible.

GUIDE TRAINING

Synergo created and delivered a specifically tailored training for Pumpkin Ridge’s initial staff and managers. This training was delivered following the Association for Challenge Course Technology standards, was 40 hours in length and included topics such as rescues/retrievals, orientations, gear inspections, proper clipping attachments and much more.

OPERATIONAL DOCUMENT & MANUAL CREATION

In order to demonstrate operational competence if an accident were to happen, create knowledge and skill continuity among staff and create a reference for how the design, equipment and training at Pumpkin Ridge intersect, we created an necessary Operations Manual. On top of the main manual, Synergo also created a package of operation documents to be used by staff.

START UP GEAR PACKAGE

Once the design of Pumpkin Ridge Zip Tour was laid out, we began the process of outfitting the tour with the right package of gear. Taking into account the length of the lines, the number of estimated customer throughput and the target audience of the tour, the gear package included guide and guest helmets, trolleys, guide and guest harnesses, lanyards and rescue packs.

START UP & ONGOING SITE MANAGEMENT

Commonly overlooked, the Start-Up phase of a project can be one of the most important to jump start a strong opening year. We assisted Pumpkin Ridge Zip Tour with on-site facilities and buildings, an automatic camera system for guests, reservation software, guide management software, a digital asset management system for documentation and a gear organizational system.

ANNUAL DIGITAL MARKETING

A strong start-up and ongoing marketing plan is vital to a new business, especially in the Outdoor Adventure Industry. For Pumpkin Ridge Zip Tour, we created, implemented and managed an on-going marketing plan that continues to include website design and management, press releases, local partnerships, social media presence, SEM and SEO structure and print material design.
