OUR STORY

Established in 1994, Synergo was founded in 1994 by Erik Marter.

FROM THE BEGINNING the goal of Synergo has been to provide a place for people of all backgrounds to become better individuals through challenging outdoor adventure experiences. Jennifer Marter joined Erik at Synergo in 2000 taking the lead on program development and client relations. Jennifer is our COO and CFO and works directly with our support staff at Synergo managing programs, operations, training and ongoing relationships with our clients and partners. Jennifer manages our financial department as well as contracts, certifications and insurance.

ASSOCIATION FOR CHALLENGE COURSE TECHNOLOGY: The first formal gathering of challenge course professionals occurred in 1988 at a Symposium in North Carolina. Stemming from this in 1991, this group of professional builders decided to form a national organization to support the development and standardization of challenge course practices now known as the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT). Officially founded in 1993, ACCT has become the world’s leading ANSI Accredited Standards Developer in North America. In 2005, Erik was elected to the Board of Directors of ACCT, the standards setting organization for challenge course installation, operation and inspection. In February 2008, Erik was elected the Chairman of the ACCT Board of Directors.

Synergo has grown immensely over the past two decades and has become an internationally recognized organization now specializing in high quality design and installation of challenge courses, zip line tours and aerial adventure parks. Our installation, training and inspection departments annually work with over 40 commercial zip line tours and over 200 summer camps, schools, businesses, and universities providing services in design, construction, maintenance, equipment purchase, training, document preparation, and ongoing safety inspections. In addition we operate six challenge courses and work with over 6,000 participants each year on single and multi-day traditional challenge course programs. We also maintain ongoing contracts with schools, universities and mental health facilities to provide support services to students. In 2009, Jennifer and Erik founded NW Adventure LLC which now operates two zip line tours in the Northwest: San Juan Island Zip Tour on San Juan Island and Pumpkin Ridge Zip Tour just outside Portland, Oregon.
