ACCT TRAININGS

Synergo has been reviewed and accredited as a Professional Vendor Member (PVM) to offer these certifications and all Certifications align with the Association for Challenge Course Technology Standards. All trainings are held as YMCA CAMP COLLINS in Troutdale, Oregon just outside of Portland.

Level I Practitioner

Today’s challenge course facilitator needs to be prepared to handle a variety of situations in a wide range of settings. Facilitators must possess the technical knowledge to facilitate programs using high and low challenge course elements. In addition, they are expected to have the soft skills necessary to understand the needs of the group as well as the individuals that make up that group. Level I is designed to provide an entry level facilitator the skills needed to begin work on a Challenge Course.

  • There are no prerequisites for this course. Prior training is not needed but a general familiarity of challenge courses and their programs will help greatly.
  • Minimum age for this certification is 18 years old on the date of certification completion.
  • 40 hours spread out over 4 days along with 1 additional day for testing. Attendance is required all 4 days.
  • Testing is held separate from the 40 hours. There will be a comprehensive written and practical test and participants need to pass both with a minimum of 80% correct to become certified. (Certain aspects of the test must be passed with 100%)
  • This is a 1 year certificate that needs to be renewed annually.

  • Design and develop programs that align with the philosophy, and ethical standards that drive the program
  • Develop an awareness of appropriate knowledge of personal abilities and shortfalls as they pertain to facilitation
  • Gain understanding of the certification model, using a facilitation portfolio and co continuing education in the field
  • Have an understanding of the differences from one challenge course to the next and how this will affect facilitation

  • Spotting assessment, instruction, and use
  • Challenge course rescue procedures (understanding and recognizing but not implementing)
  • Basic challenge course policies and procedures, industry standards, local operating procedures
  • Training Only: $630 – 4 days of training, includes room and board
  • Training and Certification Testing: $750 – 4 days of training, 1 day of testing, includes room and board
  • Certification Test Only: $120 – 1 day of testing, includes lunch

Level II Practitioner

The major difference between the Level 1 and Level 2 Certification is the depth of understanding that is needed for certification. In Level 1 participants are expected to ‘minimally meet’ or have a basic understanding of the topics covered, while Level 2 participants will need to be able to apply the topics in most situations and a few complex areas as well.

  • Minimum age for this certification is 18 years old on the date of certification completion.
  • Level 1 Certification (or equivalent) is required to take the Level II certification.
  • 200 diverse documented facilitation hours (presented in the facilitator’s portfolio) are required before registration for the Level II certification.
  • 40 hours spread out over 4 days along with 1 additional day for testing. Attendance is required all 4 days.
  • Testing is held separate from the 40 hours. There will be a comprehensive written and practical test, and participants need to pass both with a minimum of 80% correct to become certified. (Certain aspects of the test must be passed with 100%)
  • This is a 3 year certificate.

Course Manager Training

As the challenge course/ zip line canopy tour and adventure park industry continues to develop and change the demands placed on course managers has increased. Today’s course manager needs to be prepared to handle a variety of situations in a wide range of settings. Managers must possess the technical knowledge necessary to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of elements. In addition, they are expected to have the skills necessary to manage risks, develop policies, supervise staff, and other related functions..

  • Minimum age for this certification is 21 years old on the date of certification completion.
  • Level 2 Certification (or equivalent) is required to take the Course Manager Certification.
  • 500 diverse documented facilitation hours (presented in the facilitator’s portfolio) are required before registration for the Challenge Course Manager Certification.
  • 1,000 documented guide-specific hours (presented in the guide’s portfolio) are required before registration for the Zip/Adventure Course Manager Certification.
  • 30 hours spread out over 3 days along with 1 additional day for testing. Attendance is required all 3 days.
  • Testing is held on a separate day. There will be a comprehensive written and practical test, and participants need to pass both with a minimum of 80% correct to become certified. (Certain aspects of the test must be passed with 100%)
  • This is a 5 year certificate.
  • January 11 – 14th, 2018

*All Course Manager trainees must attend the full training, including the final certification day. Due to the density of valuable information in this specific training, we do not allow previous Course Managers to test out or re-certify without attending the entire training.

  • Developing a fee structure that is appropriate for your site

  • Training and Certification Testing: $675 – 3 days of training, 1 day of testing, includes room and board
