Challenge Course Certification

Recertification

Facilitators who would like to renew an existing or expired certification have a few options available to them. You may choose from the options below whichever one is most appropriate for you.

Level 1

Option 1 - 50 hours of experience since the certification and pass the re-test

Option 2 - 8 hours of additional training since the certification and pass the re-test

Level 2

Option 1 - 150 hours of experience and 24 hours of additional training since the certification and pass the re-test

Option 2 - Retake the entire Level 2 training and then re-test

Challenge Course Managers

Option 1 - 300 hours of challenge course or program/facility management since the certification, 30 of those hours can be training within the previous 5 years, and pass the re-test

Option 2 - Retake the entire Challenge Course Managers training and then re-test
 

Challenge In

Facilitators that meet or exceed the requirements or have previous training similar to any of the three certifications may qualify to "challenge in". Below is a list of ways that a facilitator can earn a certification by challenging in.

Level 1

A portfolio of at least 100 hours of program experience and training and pass the written and practical Level 1 test.

Level 2

A portfolio of at least 400 hours of program experience and 80 hours of training and pass the written and practical Level 2 test.

Challenge Course Manager

Must have a Level 2 Certification and a portfolio with 600 hours of experience, 30 hours of management training, and pass the written and practical Challenge Course Manager's test.
