Challenge Course Safety Inspection

There are as many ways to build challenge courses as there are courses in this country. This creates the problem of making sure that your courses is safe. And now with the creation of the national challenge course installation standards that the Association For Challenge Course Technology has put into place you also need to ensure that your course meets certain safety criteria to please your insurance company.

SYNERGO can inspect your course to ensure that your course is safe and also meets the standards of the Association For Challenge Course Technology. We will inspect every part of your course and give you a written report of our findings. This report includes the following:

  • Detailed description of each element with a rating number.
  • Recommendation for any changes to element design, materials used, or course uses.
  • Recommendations for any changes to the belay devices or belay set-up.
  • Tree inspection (to ensure that the course is in a healthy stand of trees and is not impeding the safety or growth of the trees).
  • Recommendations for tree care and safety.

We recommend that you have an inspection done on your course at least once a year regardless of its usage. Even if the course has not been used once it is still in a process of change and deterioration. Trees grow and materials decay, and an unsafe course is an accident waiting to happen! We also recommend that if you are going to build your own course you talk to a qualified builder who is familiar with the national standards and how to implement them before you begin. This could conceivably save you some time and money down the road.

SYNERGO staff members have been designing and building challenge courses nation wide since 1981. We have an excellent understanding of challenge courses and their uses. We use the challenge course installation standards that the Association For Challenge Course Technology has created as a guideline in the work we do. We own and operate one of the largest challenge courses in the Pacific Northwest. Please call us with any questions you might have regarding the construction or use of your course.
